PBS Online is an excellent discovery, containing resources not found elsewhere on the Web and not achievable in other media. Elegant, interactive timelines and a zooming map of Athens offer links to a range of material from architecture and politics to warfare and, of course, history. Like the television documentary on which it's based, the website is organized around the lives of five notable individuals, a design that makes the content as approachable as it is powerful. ... -

Site contains nearly 1000 links to resources about Alexander; they are listed under individual topics, such as: Warfare, Sexuality, Companions and Foes, Alexander's Death, and Philosophy. A large portion of the site compiles links to images of Alexander the Great as he was portrayed in different eras, from antiquity to the 20th Century. www.perseus.tufts.edu/Olympics Perseus om de klassiske Olympiske Lege
*"The ancient Olympics were rather different from the modern Games. There were fewer events, and only free men who spoke Greek could compete, instead of athletes from any country. Also, the games were always held at Olympia instead of moving around to different sites every time. Like our Olympics, though, winning athletes were heroes who put their home towns on the map. Part of the Perseus Project, this website provides a detailed account of the early history of the Olympic Games." (her spartacus anm) -

"The American School of Classical Studies has been excavating in the area of the Athenian Agora since 1931, bringing to light the history of the area over a period of 5000 years. Finds range from scattered pieces of pottery of the late Neolithic period (ca. 3000 BC) to the contents of 19th and early 20th century basements. The Agora of the 5th and 4th centuries BC has been the main focus of attention. Public documents inscribed on stone, weight and measure standards, and jurors' identification tickets and ballots reflect the administrative nature of the site, while traces of private dwellings in the area immediately bordering the open square, with their household pottery and other small finds, throw light on the everyday lives of Athenian citizens. This website has been designed to provide you with more information on the Athenian Agora." (nyhedsbrev) - Ancient Greek Civilizations Minnesota state univ
